HONORS STUDENTS NAMED AT UAF

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
November 17, 1998

Fairbanks, Alaska - The students on the attached list have been named to the Dean's or Chancellor's List at the University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF) in recognition of outstanding academic achievements during the summer 1998 semester, which ended in August.

Honors students receiving all "A's" or a 4.0 grade point average are placed on the Chancellor's List, while those receiving an "A-" average of between 3.5 and 3.99 G.P.A. are named to the Dean's List.

The University of Alaska Fairbanks is a land, sea and space grant institution with about 9, 000 students located on its campuses in the state's Interior, Western and Aleutian Islands regions. The Fairbanks campus, located about 160 miles south of the Arctic Circle, is the only university in Alaska offering classes at the Ph.D. level. Since its founding in 1917, UAF has grown to become an internationally recognized institution with a focus on research relating to the Arctic and sub-Arctic, including biology, geophysics, engineering, natural resources and global climate change.
