SUBJECT OIL COMPANY GEOLOGIST TO SPEAK AT UAF
LOCATION 201 Natural Sciences Building
DATE & TIME April 17, 1998; 3.30 p.m.
Mobil Technology Co. consultant Ronald D. Kreisa is a 1998 American Association of Petroleum Geologists Distinguished Lecturer and guest speaker at UAF this Friday. Kreisa is speaking to about 25 universities and geological societies on a nationwide tour. His talk at UAF April 17 is at 3:30 p.m. room 201 of the Natural Sciences Building.
Kreisa is currently leading a project to integrate well-core data with well-logging, 3-D seismic and production data for oil field development studies in Nigeria. Kreisa's research centers primarily on the description, classification and interpretation of various types of sediments, especially those associated with tide- and wave-influenced shallow marine deposits. His work has led to geological models of many of Mobil Co.'s major fields, including Hibernia in Newfoundland and Cerro Negro in Venezuela.
According to Kreisa, the combination of hundreds of spaced wells, thousands of feet of core and recent 3-D seismic data provide unparalleled opportunity to document patterns of Pliocene deep-water sand deposits of the eastern Niger Delta.
