SUBJECT                $10,000 USIBELLI AWARD WINNERS ANNOUNCED AT SPRING CONVOCATION HIGHLIGHTING THE ARTS

LOCATION              Charles W. Davis Concert Hall, UAF Campus

DATE & TIME          April 7, 1 - 2 p.m.

University of Alaska Fairbanks Provost John Keating will highlight the importance of the arts at UAF and in the Fairbanks community at a spring convocation Tuesday, April 7 at the Charles W. Davis Concert Hall. The provost will also announce this year's recipients of the distinguished Emil Usibelli Research, Teaching and Service Awards. Each of the three faculty named will receive a check for $10,000. The awards are funded annually from a $600,000 endowment made to UAF in 1992 by Usibelli Coal Mine.

The convocation preview begins at 12:30 p.m. with a reception and showing in the Art Gallery in the Fine Arts Complex. Then from 1-2 p.m. in the Davis Concert Hall performances by the Opera Workshop, the UAF Jazz Band and the UAF Chamber Chorale will be featured, followed by the announcement of this year's Usibelli Award winners. The reception in the Art Gallery will be extended after the convocation until 2:30 p.m.
