SUBJECT UAF HOSTS ENGINEERS' DAY OPEN HOUSE
LOCATION Duckering and Brooks Buildings, UAF campus
DATE & TIME Feb. 28, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
The University of Alaska Fairbanks department of engineering along with local engineering firms are sponsoring an open house Saturday, Feb. 28, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m on the UAF campus. The event will provide an opportunity for adults and children to explore through hands-on demonstrations and exhibits what engineers do. The Engineers Day Open House is part of National Engineers' Week, traditionally held in February in conjunction with the birthday of the nation's first president George Washington, a land surveyor and civil engineer.
UAF engineering departments' faculty, staff, students and representatives from local engineering firms will present demonstrations, exhibits and activities for the entire family. Among the fun activities are the Tornado Tunnel and the Bottle Xylophone. Concrete crushing demonstrations, jet engine displays and this year's ice arch are additional features. Also, the popular M&M sorter and the convenient electric powered hot dog cooker are back from last year.
Exhibitions and demonstrations are free of charge and free parking is available on campus all day.
