The average age of a UAF student will drop a decade or so this Friday as 50 Fairbanks-area 7th and 8th graders find out what it's like to be a college student for a day. For the third year in a row, UAF is hosting a mini-courses day for Tanana Middle School students. They'll learn about science in workshops like "Water Works," "Holy Hydraulics!" and "Acid from Above." Students can also get a behind the scenes look at collections housed in the basement of the UA Museum of the North or go wild at UAF's Arctic Region Supercomputing Center.
Participating faculty and staff are responsible for planning a 45 minute workshop to be held up to four times between 10 a.m. and 2:45 p.m. Student groups choose which courses they'd most like to participate in during the day-long learning adventure. Contact University Relations at 474-7581 for a full schedule of events.
