SUBJECT Chancellor Wadlow Budget Briefing
LOCATION Wood Center Ballroom, UAF Campus
DATE & TIME 1:30 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 11, 1997
University of Alaska Fairbanks Chancellor Joan Wadlow will update the campus community on UAF's budget and the status of systemwide reengineering at a special briefing Thursday, Sept. 11, 1:30 p.m. in the Wood Center Ballroom.
Wadlow chairs the statewide committee examining administrative expenditures. The Committee on the Redesign of the System Office is charged with recommending possible savings through changes in the role and mission of the university's statewide office. The committee is also looking at individual campus administrative processes with an eye toward cost reduction.
There are four separately accredited institutions within the statewide University of Alaska system. These "Major Academic Units," or MAUs, have already implemented several streamlining and reduction measures as a result of the program assessment process initiated in 1994 by the University of Alaska Board of Regents.
A preliminary report on system reengineering is due next month and final report is expected to be delivered at the November meeting of the UA Board of Regents meeting in Anchorage. The board next meets Sept. 24 - 26 in Fairbanks.
