SUBJECT STAR TREK CREW AT UAF PHYSICS LAB DEDICATION
LOCATION John Rutherford Noyes Physics Laboratory, UAF Natural Sciences Facility
DATE & TIME Friday, August 1, 11:45 a.m.
Boldly go where no one from the crew of the starship U.S.S. Enterprise has gone before as they explore new worlds at the Natural Sciences Facility at UAF on Friday, Aug. 1 at 11:45 a.m.
The intergalactic Star Trek crew, which includes Bajoran Cmdr. Kir-Toch, Klingon Lt. Mhal-hch, and Vulcan Ensign Tabbar, will beam down from the Enterprise to participate in the dedication of the John Rutherford Noyes physics computer lab at UAF.
Noyes' widow, who recently established a $60,000 fund to support computing facilities in the College of Science, Engineering and Mathematics, will be on hand for the dedication. Noyes' son and his family will also participate.
Brig. Gen. John Rutherford Noyes served in the Army Corps of Engineers from 1923 to 1950, including nearly ten years of service in Alaska. He became Brigadier General of the Alaska National Guard in 1953, a position he held until his death in 1956 while on a flight inspection tour to Nome.
After the Noyes physics lab dedication, Lt. Mhal-hch will talk with Trekkers about honing their Klingon language skills, Ensign Tabbar will demonstrate a Vulcan mind meld and the space trio will hold a Star Fleet recruitment interview.
