UAF University Relations About Us Contact Staff

University of Alaska Fairbanks criminal justice students Jon Black, left, of Winnemucca, Nev., and Leon Morgan, right, of Juneau, Alaska, are this year's Alaska Police Officers' Association (APOA) scholarship recipients.

Morgan, who graduated from UAF in December, will attend the Sitka Police Academy this spring in preparation for a career in Alaska law enforcement.

Black, a junior who until recently was a Community Safety Officer with the UAF Police Department, plans to attend law school after graduation.

Each will receive a $500 APOA scholarship, established in memory of Alaska State Troopers Skip Chevalier and Troy Duncan, officers killed in the line of duty. The scholarships are awarded yearly to outstanding justice students at the University of Alaska Fairbanks.
