SUBJECT:           UAF POLICE ISSUE MOOSE WATCH

LOCATION:         UAF Campus Residential Areas

DETAILS:

UAF police are advising pedestrians and motorists to exercise extreme caution while traveling on campus. An increased number of moose have been sighted near the university and on campus grounds, particularly in residential areas.

Interactions with moose can be dangerous. The animals will charge if threatened, so don't approach a moose when spotted, especially if a mother and calf are seen.

State and university biologists agree that there is not much that can be done to prevent moose from venturing on campus, but being aware of the danger could prevent a potentially deadly situation.

Any moose sightings on campus should be reported immediately to university police. Call 474-7721 to report moose sightings.
