The University of Alaska Fairbanks will host an open forum on the topic of classified research, Tuesday, March 26 from 1 - 2:30 p.m. in the Natural Science Building, room 201. The guest speaker will be Julie Norris, director of the Office of Sponsored Programs for the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
UAFs Vice Provost for Research and the UAF Faculty Senate are sponsoring this open forum to provide faculty an opportunity to hear about issues of classified research as they are engaged in policy and procedures at research institutions nationally. There will be a presentation by Norris followed by a question and answer session.
Norris is a member of the Council on Governmental Relations and served as chair of the Costing Policies committee and chair of the Research Administration Compliance committee. She is a primary contributor to the COGR document "Managing Externally Funded Programs at Colleges and Universities." Norris is also a member of the National Council of University Research Administrators and co-author of NCURAs Regulation and Compliance Handbook.
