A major announcement by University of Alaska Fairbanks Chancellor Marshall Lind concerning the 2000 Top of the World Classic basketball tournament will be made Friday, Sept. 22 at a media conference in the Nanook Lounge at the UAF Patty Center.

Now in its fifth year, the Top of the World Classic has emerged as one of the premier pre-season tournaments for NCAA Division I men's basketball. This year's tournament is scheduled for Nov. 16-18 at the Carlson Center in Fairbanks and features teams from Austin Peay, Colorado, Davidson, Jackson State, Utah State, Santa Clara and South Florida.

The UAF Nanooks tip off against the Colorado Buffaloes in the tournament's opening round on Nov. 16 at 7 p.m.
