SUBJECT: Photograph Reprint Sale Celebrates Fairbanks History

The Golden Heart City's colorful past will come alive next week amongst the scattered photographs of people, places and events that have influenced the past nine decades of Fairbanks history during UAF Rasmuson Library's historical photograph reprint sale, held in the Noel Wien Library auditorium. Thousands of reprinted photographs from the Alaska and Polar Regions Department will be available between 10 a.m. and 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 19 and Thursday, July 20.
Black and white photographs ranging in ranging in size from 5-inch by 7-inch prints to large panoramas will be available for purchase, with some prices discounted up to 50 percent. Photographed subjects include landscapes, city sourdoughs and Alaska pioneers, buildings from the past and present, and highlights of various social activities.
"It's a great place to see just why we celebrate Golden Days, but this way you can also take a little bit of the history home," said photography manager Richard Veazey.
Proceeds from the semi-annual sale benefit the Noel Wien Library and continue the historic preservation work of the Alaska and Polar Regions Department.
