The UAF Women's Studies program, Women's Center and Faculty Development Office are sponsoring Fairbanks' participation in a national, live video conference March 27-29. This conference, entitled "Women's Lives, Voices, Solutions: Shaping a National Agenda for Women in Higher Education," originates from the University of Minnesota and will include university and college campuses across the nation.
The event begins Monday, March 27 with a live feed from 9-11 a.m. in Rasmuson Library Media Conference Room 340. The telecast is open to everyone interested in viewing the keynote address by Jonetta Cole and a panel of distinguished educators. At 5 p.m. that evening, interested participants will meet at the Copper Lane House for a catered brainstorming session on how UAF can contribute to this national agenda, including an exchange of ideas to help develop a national, action-based agenda for women in higher education.
On Tuesday, UAF will link with the University of California at Hayward in a regional caucus to share these ideas. The last live video downlink with the Minnesota panel will be held Wednesday from 7-9 a.m. to discuss and synthesize input from around the country, including recommendations and future agenda.
