SUBJECT UA Scholars Program Explained
LOCATION UAF Natural Sciences Facility, Pearl Berry Boyd Lecture Hall
DATE & TIME Jan. 26 from 6 - 7:30 p.m
Local high school students, their parents and admissions counselors will get an opportunity to learn about the University of Alaska Scholars Program during an evening presentation Jan. 26 from 6 7:30 p.m. in the Pearl Boyd Berry Lecture Hall at the UAF Natural Sciences Facility. Free parking and refreshments will be available.
Hosted by the UAF Office of Admissions, the information session will cover how students can apply for the UA Scholars program, which awards four-year scholarships to Alaskan high school graduates ranking in the top 10 percent of their class. The scholarships can be used at any campus within the University of Alaska system and close to 100 scholars chose to attend UAF this semester. The program, introduced two years ago by UA President Mark Hamilton, is designed to help reduce the number of high school graduates who attend college out of state.
After the presentation, a panel of current UA Scholars will share experiences from their first year in college and answer questions from the audience. Other UAF scholarship information will also be available.
