Glossary
The UAF web guidelines apply to all UAF official websites. The following terms are used throughout the guidelines.
UAF's official websites
are defined as web pages residing on the UAF (or statewide) web server as part of a UAF department or program site that represents the mission of the university and is approved by the department head. These sites are maintained by the sponsoring departments and will be linked from the top levels of the UAF website as long as the requirements within these web guidelines are met.
Personal or "unofficial" websites
are not linked from the top levels of UAF's official website. Student or faculty websites outside the mission of the university are examples of unofficial sites. Content and organization of personal or unofficial sites are solely the responsibility of the person or department posting the site. In accordance with the Regents' Policy on Ethics and Conduct, personal web pages housed on UAF servers cannot be used to promote businesses.
Web author
is the person who creates web pages and develops the site.
Web coordinator
is the person designated by a UAF department or organization to coordinate and oversee the development of the department website(s). A web coordinator may or may not also be the web author.
