SUBJECT UAF Dean Receives National Ocean Science Appointments
Vera Alexander, dean of the University of Alaska Fairbanks School of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences, was appointed by U.S. Secretary of the Navy John Dalton to serve as a member of the Ocean Research Advisory Panel. The distinguished position advises the National Ocean Research Leadership Council on matters of policy and procedures relating to ocean science and technology.
Alexander also received an appointment to the Scientific Advisory Board, which advises the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. James Baker, Assistant Secretary of Commerce and NOAA Administrator, made the appointment.
