TO KIDS ON VALENTINE'S DAY
DATE, TIME: Friday, Feb. 14, 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.
LOCATION: UAF Classrooms and Hutchison Career Center
UAF is hosting Mini-Courses Day for 7th and 8th graders from Tanana Middle School on Valentine's Day. Fifty students will get a chance to sample a "course" at UAF from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, Feb. 14.
Participating faculty and staff are responsible for planning a 1-hour workshop to be held up to three times between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. on the day of the event. Students will choose which three courses they'd most like to attend while they're at college for a day.
The day-long learning adventure includes a workshop at the Institute of Marine Science where students will learn about marine mammals. A physics experiment at the Natural Sciences Facility will show the students how air pollution is detected.
Hutchison Career Center will open its kitchen and provide a mini-course on Valentine's Day cake decorating, or the students can "climb the walls" at the Student Recreation Center. Attached is a full schedule of events.
