SUBJECT: ALL-BLACK ANDERSON STRING QUARTET PERFORMS AT UAF

DETAILS: February is Black History Month and UAF's music department
will celebrate with a special performance by the Anderson Quartet,
Saturday, February 15 at 8 p.m. at the UAF Charles W. Davis Concert
Hall.
The New York City-based Anderson String Quartet is the first all-Black
ensemble to win the Cleveland Quartet Competition, a major contest
in America for performers of classical music. The group will present
in concert at UAF an original work by African American composer
Alvin Singleton called " Somehow We Can" along with
works from Mendelssohn and Brahms.
Tickets for the February 15 performance are ten dollars; five
dollars for students, military and seniors. Tickets are available
at Hoitt's Music and UAF's Wood Center, or at the door of the
Davis Concert Hall one hour before the performance begins.
