FROM: University of Alaska Fairbanks Bookstore

SUBJECT: UAF and Alaska Authors to Sign Books

LOCATION: UAF Bookstore, 2nd Floor Constitution Hall, UAF main campus

The UAF Bookstore is hosting several authors throughout the month of October. Debbie S. Miller and Daniel Van Zyle, the author and artist of "The Flight of the Golden Plower," will be at the bookstore from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 3. Their children's book takes an in-depth look at the migration of the Pacific golden plower, from the grassy slopes of the Hawaiian Islands to the remote windswept tundra of Alaska.

English Department faculty member Carolyn Kremers, author of "Place of the Pretend People," will sign copies of her book from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 9. Throughout her work, Kremers evokes images of life in a Yup'ik Eskimo Village and the wilderness around it.

Velma Wallis, award-winning author of "Two Old Women," introduces her second book, "Bird Girl and the Man Who Followed the Sun," during the booksigning held from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday, Oct. 14.
