More than 15 university departments will peas-fully participate in the fifth annual event, which falls on opening day of the fair this year.
Class schedules, undergraduate applications and details on the upcoming fall semester will be available at UAF's University Relations booth in the Borealis Pavilion. Outside the pavilion, the Agricultural and Forestry Experiment Station will showcase animal science research, accompanied by a reindeer, a two-year-old heifer and a black and white calf. Speaking of furry friends, two hairy hooligans will join Lind in greeting guests the Nanook mascot and McGruff the Crime Dog.
UAF's cheer and dance team will whoop it up during two performances at 5 and 7 p.m., while scientist Marlys Schneider will show why she's crazy for chemistry with daring demonstrations. Fairgoers can check out several other UAF departments including UAF Athletics, Alaska Cooperative Extension, the Geophysical Institute, the UA Museum of the North and KSUA, the student radio station, which will broadcast live throughout the week of the fair.
