SUBJECT: NATIONAL ALCOHOL SCREENING DAY
LOCATION: University of Alaska Fairbanks campus
DATE & TIME Thursday, April 6 from noon to 3:30 p.m. at UAF Wood Center; 4-6 p.m. at the Downtown Center
DETAILS: The University of Alaska Fairbanks Center for Health and Counseling is participating in National Alcohol Screening Day by offering free, anonymous screenings and information sessions Thursday, April 6 from noon to 3:30 p.m. at the UAF Wood Center Multi-Level Lounge and from 4-6 p.m. at the Downtown Center.
More than 2,000 screening sites have been set up across the country, including about 500 on college campuses, to increase awareness about problems associated with alcohol abuse and how people can get help. By providing free screenings– a confidential, written self-test– participants can privately identify problems like binge drinking, alcohol dependency or abuse.
The screening takes about 10 minutes and includes a brief discussion with a counselor regarding results. Where appropriate, potential referral services will also be made available. For more information, call (907) 474-7030.
