PROPOSAL GUIDELINES
 
13th Inuit Studies Conference
Voices from Indigenous Communities:
Research, Reality & Reconciliation

 
PLEASE NOTE: All presenters are required to register for the conference and are expected to pay all registration and other conference expenses.

OPTIONS FOR PRESENTATION

Session Presentations:
Format: Panels, roundtables, series of presenters, on a topic related to the conference theme of "Voices from Indigenous Communities: Research, Reality & Reconciliation".
Length: up to 2-1/2 hours (allocating at least 30 minutes for discussion).
Requirements: The session design is to include learning objectives, an agenda, handouts, and participant exercise/discussion questions.

Paper Presentations:
Format: Papers should present well-developed concepts, applications,and results. Two or three related papers can be submitted as a panel. Individual proposals will be grouped with related papers by the Program Committee.
Length: Individual paper presentations are 20 minutes long, followed by 10 minutes of discussion.
Requirements: Presenters are to provide an abstract and are strongly encouraged to provide a full paper 60 days after preliminary acceptance by the Program Committee.

GUIDELINES FOR PROPOSALS

SUBMISSIONS: Please submit a written proposal of no more than 1-2 pages using the following guidelines:

  • Proposal Category: Session or paper presentation
  • Contact Information: Name, organization, affiliation, address, phone and fax numbers and e-mail address. Session proposals please list all participants plus the name and contact information of a contact person.
  • Title and Summary: Provide a title and summary not to exceed 150 words that will include the research, practice/policy approach.
  • Special Equipment: List any audio/visual equipment needed including computer or Internet access.
  • Outcomes and Transferability: Describe in one paragraph what others will learn from your presentation.
  • Relation to Conference Theme: Briefly describe how your proposal relates to the conference theme.

DEADLINE: The submission deadline is March 31, 2002. If preliminary, tentative approval and/or firm denial is needed prior to the official review process, please submit material early and ask for an early tentative review.

SELECTION AND ACCEPTANCE: The program committee will review proposals. The program committee has the authority and responsibility for placing the sessions where they will be most beneficial to those attending the conference. Selections will be made by April 21, 2002.

MATERIALS SUBMITTAL DEADLINE: Materials listed under options for presentation: session presentations or paper presentations, should be submitted 60 days following notification of acceptance in order to maintain a position on the program.
