Toolik Field Station upgraded to a survey grade (Trimble 5700)
GPS base station in May 2004 with the assistance of Bjorn Johns
of UNAVCO. A full description of equipment and capabilities is
available on the Toolik GPS page.
Below are some pictures of the installation, and a field demo
for the camp users on May 11, 2004. The demo employed realtime
(RTK) survey grade equipment to locate small objects buried in the
snow. Field accuracy was in the 2-4cm range.
