Toolik Field Station
GIS develops, assembles, archives and distributes spatial data germaine
to research, management and logistics in the Toolik region.
Past protocol included
limited online dataset distribution directly through this website. Thinking
and practice related to Spatial Data Infrastructure (SDI) have evolved
rapidly in recent years. Several initiatives are underway to create
coherent Alaskan and Arctic data portals which will leverage the distributed
nodes among agencies, institutions and the private sector for better
coordinated and faster data discovery and delivery.
Direct web access
to Toolik GIS data will again be supported once these come to fruition.
In the meantime, the vast majority of TFS GIS data is considered appropriate
for public distribution and will be provided upon request. Please e-mail
