Training Institutes

Overview of Delivery

Training Institutes use a blended delivery format. For each institute, there is one pre-audio session, a face-to-face intensive in either Anchorage or Fairbanks, mentoring sessions, and an audio wrap-up. All sessions are required.

Instructors

Training Institutes are delivered by instructor teams comprised of content experts, rural experts, and indigenous Elders. Please see specific training descriptions for instructor biosketches and pictures.

Clinical Supervision Spring Institute

Previous Training Institutes:

Adult Services Track: Topics for this training include evidence-based assessment and treatment for dual diagnosis adults, dealing with life threatening crises, cross-cultural competency training, ethical/legal issues, referral resources/documentation, and vicarious trauma/self-care for the provider. This instititute was last offered in Fall 2006.

Child Services Track: Topics for this training include evidence-based assessment and treatment practices for children based on Trauma-focused components-based therapy, integrating parenting/family issues into treatment, cross-cultural competency training, ethical/legal issues, referral resources/documentation, and vicarious trauma/self-care for the provider. This institute was last offered in Fall 2006.

Clinical Supervision and Telehealth: Topics for the training include Clinical Supervision, Telehealth, Tele-Supervision, Vicarious Trauma, Ethics, and Legal Issues. This institute was last offered in March 2007.

Best Practices in Telebehavioral Health in Alaska: This Institute is designed for Mental Health Professional – Rural Coordinator teams to enhance their ability to respond to the unique challenges presented by telebehavioral health care. Participants will have an opportunity to practice video conference skills using a variety of video conferencing equipment. This institute was last offered in October 2007.
