What can I recycle?

UAF Recycling operates as a partnership between students (Associated Students of the University of Alaska, Fairbanks) and the administration (Facilities Services). Listen to a recycling KUAC radio kickoff broadcast.

Please note, the following items are not recyclable at UAF: Foam take-out clamshells, cups, and plates; foam egg cartons; aerosol cans.

Clothing Any fabrics in reusable condition	Clothing Garments should be in reusable condition because FRA works with Value Village to distribute items. Donate non-reusable items to the Alaska Rag Company.	Clothing Place clothing in the blue "Closet Collections" bin in the Taku parking lot
E-Waste Computers Printers Phones Faxes	E-Waste Transfer electronic items to UAF surplus.	E-Waste Save for the Interior Alaska Green Star electronic roundup.
Glass Clear, brown, green Jars and bottles	Glass Remove caps. Rinse and clean. No lightbulbs.	Glass UAF orange dumpsters for glass are in the Taku parking lot.
Ink/Toner Cartridges Laser toners Ink jet Xerox	Ink/Toner Cartridges Place intact cartridge in specified building container. Paper and Cardboard White and colored paper and notebooks Books, including phone books Newspapers, magazines, and catalogs Business cards Post-it-notes, file folders, and envelopes Shredded paper Cereal boxes Clean, disposable paper cups Paper egg cartons	Paper and Cardboard Flatten all boxes. Must be free of food and grease. Staples ok. Remove all large clips. Place all shredded material in a clear plastic bag. For large volumes of paper cardboard and books, call Facilities @ 7000.	Paper and Cardboard Use individual blue paper bins. Request a blue bin from ASUAF at 474-6037 or sustainabilityoffice@uaf.edu. Use designated dumpsters in Taku parking lot. Put bagged shredded paper next to bin or paper dumpster. For large volumes, call Facilities @ 7000.

Steel Tin Cans	Steel Rinse containers. Remove labels. No containers from products that could cause a chemical burn, like drain cleaner. No containers from products with an oil base, like lamp oil or motor oil, and no cooking oil based products.	Steel UAF black dumpsters for tin are in the Taku parking lot.
