OneTree Alaska

OneTree Alaska is an education and outreach program of the University of Alaska Fairbanks
School of Natural Resources and Extension. We believe every child should have ample opportunities to explore their local environment and feel connected to the ecology of the land.

OneTree Alaska uses an integrated STEM to STEAM approach (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math + Art) to engage students of all ages in tree-inspired projects that encourage scientific inquiry, stewardship, craftsmanship, and creativity.

OneTree Alaska was inspired by the UK organization OneTree, of which 70 local artisans crafted beautiful objects from the wood of a single large oak felled in the Cheshire forest. It is this similar spirit of collaboration and partnership that makes OneTree Alaska projects possible. We receive tremendous support from teachers and staff of the Fairbanks North Star Borough School District, Fairbanks artists, Interior Alaska community members, local organizations, and the faculty, staff, and students of the University of Alaska Fairbanks.
