MyUA Portal targets Spring semester rollout despite delays The $4 million computer project, My UA Portal, was originally scheduled to be released for use by students and faculty by summer of 2005, however technical problems and statewide convergence have held up its release... More than 100 people attended a meeting of KUAC's Community Task Force last Wednesday to voice their opinions about the station, including the controversial program changes that were enacted in the summer... The Alaska state university system will receive millions of dollars of money from oil revenues in the form of donations from BP (British Petroleum) and ConocoPhillips... Grading the graders: The ins and outs of professor evaluations At the end of the semester, students are asked to fill out teacher evaluation forms, but what are these forms, and why must we fill them out? Cold weather pleasure: Sex in the dorms As students spend less time outside and more time indoors huddled under the covers, the important subject on students' minds (other than classes) becomes sex... Ladies and gentlemen, can I have everyone's attention? I have an important announcement: Classes are done. The only thing between the end of this semester and the start of winter break is a little thing called finals week... Club spotlight: The Arctic Aka dondo Club The aka dondo is known as the talking drum. Rural villages in western Africa used the instrument to communicate to each other, and the new Arctica aka dondo Club, or Africa Club, at UAF sees itself as a similar tool... Politically active citizens gathered on the fourth floor of Gruening last Thursday to attend an evening of workshops with the goal of promoting positive changes in the community through grassroots activism... |
