Broomball

Despite some recent negative publicity, intramural broomball has become the hottest extracurricular activity on campus.  Every Monday thru Thursday, from 10:15 p.m. to midnight, the Patty Center fills with students hooked on the hockey-like game where Leaders of Tomorrow slide around the ice rink whacking softball-sized nerfs into guarded nets.  Each co-ed game lasts 20 minutes and the players range in ability from competitive ex-hockey players to people with little athletic ability just looking for a good time.

New policy guarantees freshmen more seats in CLA core classes

Starting next year, freshmen will be guaranteed seats in core classes offered by UAF's College of Liberal Arts.

Movie Review: "Dawn of the Dead"

The stoic male hates the horror movie.  The reason is simple.  The horror movie, when genuinely disturbing, renders the stoic male powerless – without control of his own emotions.  No more does this pantheon of indifference wield control over a chaotic environment.  He has been leveled, and the surrounding world quickly fills with the reality and finality of brutal violence.  Thus is the power of fear; the ultimate act of democracy. 

College Drop Outs

Attending college seems a natural step after high school. Today a college degree is more attainable then ever before.  But what happens when college just doesn't work out?  For some students straight from high school college just doesn't feel right at the time.

Letter to the editor

Another year comes and goes. This year in particular I was saddened by the Sun Star's continual publication of rather awful comics. Understandably there may be a lack of news and entertainment which leaves comics to fill the gap, but at least print something humorous, if not funny.

National Student-Athlete Day Set For April 6 At UAF
