Who knew snow mush could be such a useful engineering tool? Internships prepare UAF students for jobs So
high school is over and the next step is college. This step guarantees a great job and future, or does it?
Four years of college is meant to educate and prepare students to
enter the workforce of a particular field, but today many employers are
looking for graduates who also have some work experience. I am not a student at UAF so I was not familiar with your paper, but in my daily activities, I was able to come upon The Sun Star edition dated February 10th and decided to browse through the paper to read what, "Those Up On the Hill were printing." Needless to say, I was very let down. I am a new comer to the University of Alaska-Fairbanks, a transfer student from a smaller liberal arts college located in a Fairbanks-sized town named Danville in central Kentucky. The few fellow southerners (Suuu-thaa-naas) that I know who have managed the trip to the far far north have always told me that you Alaskans were an interesting and diverse breed. Behind a folding table on the ground floor of Wood Center." Women's Basketball: Senior Night Saturday was senior night at the Patty center and 661 fans came out to see Celcilia Chan's last home game as a Nanook. Chan had an excellent career, scoring 539 points in 88 games, but judging from the actions of her teammates, her most important contribution goes far beyond statistics. Attempting to send Chan off with a victory, the team played one of their best games of the season against an impressive team from Western Washington that beat the Nanooks by 24 points earlier this season. Last Thursday night the Seattle Redhawks met a UAF women's basketball team that is searching for the remedies to a disappointing season. After a promising start in November, the Nanooks are 1-13 in their last 14 games, including a 68-60 loss to the Redhawks in January. But the ‘Nooks haven't given up, and this time the results were different. UAF Theater presents Winter Shorts Some of the best theater at UAF is the student directed and produced Winter Shorts. These one-act plays are usually vibrant and fresh with an unassuming simplicity and charm that is often lacking in the mainstage productions. |
