In the midst of an eleven game losing streak, the UAF women's basketball team is in search of the victory that will turn around their season. That victory almost came against conference rival Northwest Nazarene on Thursday, Feb. 5 as junior guard Adrienne Taalak's 19 points gave the Nanooks a 10 point lead at the half. But missed shots and unforced turnovers eventually cost them the game as the Crusaders took the lead after less than four minutes of play in the second half. In the first of the doubleheader basketball games on Saturday, the struggling UAF women's team met a strong St. Martin's Saints squad that has already soundly beaten the Nanooks once this season. Would this time be different? Movie Review: "Big Fish" is a Big Flop Tim Burton has already proven himself a visionary. The general evolution from "Pee Wee's" now infamous romp to the wildly exaggerated "Sleepy Hollow" has been both exciting and fascinating to watch. I suppose, though, that after having displayed his knack for eccentric visual vernacular, Burton has come to feel a sense of dread. A career spent amazing audiences with overwhelming imagination has left little time to develop strong critical acceptance. Only "Ed Wood" skimmed the heights that Burton appears so desperate to achieve. And if there is one thing I learned from watching his latest offering, "Big Fish," it's that Burton is running scared. Nanooks lose heartbreaker Friday After battling valiantly for forty minutes before a national television audience on College Sports Television, the University of Alaska Fairbanks watched the University of Michigan score three goals in the final period Friday night to claim a hard-fought 4-1 victory. UAF Hockey Earns Important 5-3 Victory Over Michigan The University of Alaska Fairbanks came into Saturday's hockey game with the No. 4 ranked University of Michigan with a purpose. The Nanooks needed a victory to stay in the hunt for home ice as the Central Collegiate Hockey Association playoffs approach. The verdict is in, and credits for recreation classes were spared the chopping block. Sally

Opinion: Love on Television
Is it any wonder people are so cynical about love?
I mean just look at how it's depicted on TV.
I love chocolate and flowers and romantic gestures,
but I admit I am not completely sold on Valentine's Day.
Bobbi and Robinson have been married for two years.
They attended the "Vagina Monologues" together Saturday
evening. Their discussions of theater and theme are heated and usually
end with Robinson sleeping on the couch (for at least an hour).
