Dear Editor,
This letter is a response to the article about the Akasofu lecture (by
Matt Schantzen) and the editorial "Going green" by Lacie Grosvold.
I am hating myself for getting sucked in to this debate. To me, arguing whether global warming has an anthropogenic cause is an out-dated debate. This is not because I know or believe the answer is one or the other. The climate skeptics say more studies are needed. But the scientists are always doing more studies anyway. The hugely unfortunate situation for all of us, if one day we get more results to show that the climate skeptics are wrong, is that we could be already too late to save our planet. Like the very wise Lacie Grosvold, all I know is that being careful about the ways we extract and use our resources, about the pollution and waste we generate, about our energy consumptions, about our many other impacts to the environment etc, is good for the environment, that in turn benefits us in many ways, not least economically. God may not like a hypocritical theist, but a climate skeptic does not need to believe in anthropogenic global warming, he will get his rewards if he just acts as though it is. Let's move on to another debate, please! I am getting bored!
Yours sincerely,
