UAF shooters dominate Tenn.

The Alaska Nanook rifle team, a squad synonymous with success, began the defense of their NCAA national championship with a season opening match where they defeated the University of Tennessee- Martin Saturday morning on home turf, the range in the basement of the Patty Center. The Nanooks’ score was 4669. Tennessee’s score was unavailable, but the Nanooks reportedly beat them by 200 points.

Correction:

The article, “WICHE program enables UA students to go to med school” in the October 9 issue may have been misleading. Though UAF is not in the WICHE program for medical school, it does participate in the WAAMI program which actually gives Alaskan students a statistically higher chance of getting into medical school at the University of Washington than almost any other state.

Time to Rock and Roll:
Much-awaited climbing wall opens at SRC

In 1997 a rock climbing wall was installed in the Student Recreation Center. Since then, avid climbers have been eager to have a new wall to scale. That new wall has arrived. A ribbon-cutting ceremony for the wall was held on October 8. Vice Chancellor Jake Poole cut the ribbon, opening the wall for climbers.
