Steel drum band performs Thursday
Surround yourself with the cool sounds of the islands at the UAF Steel Drum Concert on Thursday. The concert, directed by Christopher Lubken, will be giving a free performance at the West Valley High School Performing Arts Center at 7 p.m.
Controversial 9/ll film shows on Friday
There will be a screening of "Improbable Collapse: The Demolition of our Republic" on Friday in the Schaible Auditorium.
"Using photo and video footage as well as expert scientific testimony, the film thoroughly examines the official reports, offering varied criticisms of the official findings, while raising a more plausible hypothesis," states the Web site.
The director, Michael Berger, and UAF physics professor Channon Price will answer questions and lead discussion. Levi Ben-Israel will open with a few of his poems at 6:30 p.m.
Violinist to play with symphony Sunday
Paul Rosenthal will be performing Khachaturian's Violin Concerto and Sibelius' Symphony No. 2 with the Fairbanks Symphony under the direction of maestro Eduard Zilberkant.
Rosenthal studied music at the University of Southern California and the Juilliard School before settling in Alaska. He has honorary music degrees from Alaska Pacific University and the University of Alaska. He performs with a 300-year-old violin made in Cremona Italy.
The concert on Sunday at 4 p.m. will be preceded by a lecture on the pieces.
