Short plays take stage
Spring semester's "Winter Shorts" will be presented by the Student Drama Association on Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m.
The shorts include two one-act plays, "Power Lunch" and "Danny and the Deep Blue Sea," which are produced, directed, and starred in by students.
"Winter Shorts are some of the best theater in Fairbanks," said "Danny" director Ben Coffroth.
The performances are $5 for students with Polar Express cards. They can also be seen on March 30 and 31 in the Salisbury Theatre.
A special free performance for the first 100 audience members will start at 2 p.m. on April 1.
Opera performance on Saturday
The UAF Opera Workshop will have a special performance of Mozart's "The Impresario."
The opera is a comical story with many spoken lines about the woes of an operatic director, specifically his dealings with his feisty star performers.
The performance, directed by John Hopkins, will be in the Davis Concert Hall on Saturday. It stars Vanessa Cox, Dorothy Freeman-Wittig, Dean Shannon, Walter Fourie and Steve Mitchell.
