Nanook women fall in two games

The Nanook women's basketball squad fell twice during the weekend matchups against Central Washington and Seattle Pacific.

UAF kept close to Central Washington on Thursday for 20 minutes before slipping in the second half for a 75-63 loss. Then on Saturday, the Nanooks lost to Seattle Pacific 74-66.

The Central Washington Wildcats had trailed the Nanooks by one point going into halftime. But the team rallied a 12-0 run early in the second half to take the lead.

UAF junior Kari Reabold scored a game-high 19 points and took player of the game honors. Freshman Caitlyn Rohrbach nailed 11 points and seven rebounds, while sophomore Cristina Bruketta scored 11 points.

For Central, center Laura Wright led with 17 points and nine board. Point guard Ashley Fenimore scored 15 points.

On Saturday, the Nanooks returned to the Patty Center to face Seattle Pacific, which at one point led by 14 points. The Nanooks cut down that lead, but still lost in the final seconds.

Reabold, again player of the game, made 20 points and eight rebounds. Karen Rabung scored 11 points and five caroms.

The Nanooks are now 9-15 overall and 4-9 in conference play. The Nanooks' last home game is Thursday against Northwest Nazarene. The team will honor two seniors, Rabung and Mia Seagraves.
