The Nanook men's basketball season ignited last week with a five-alarm fire versus the Lancaster Bible College Chargers.
With a clear height advantage of four inches by team average, the 'Nooks had no problem smoking the Chargers 91-58 on Thursday and 125-61 on Friday.
Despite the point spread, coach Frank Ostanik said he wasn't satisfied.
"Those are numbers I'm not too thrilled about," he said. "I don't think we're very good defensively."
Ostanik was upbeat about the new season and thought that the upcoming Disney Tip-Off Classic will really show where the 'Nooks stand.
How they stood on Thursday, however, was well ahead in the point spread.
The 'Nooks ended the first period 50-26 and didn't let up in the second ending the game 91-58.
In the first period, a reflection of the entire game, many three pointers were attempted but few went in.
The ones that did go in were in part thanks to Jushay Rockett, who made 26 points and 10 rebounds.
Credit also had to be given to Kenny Barker, who was seen constantly working rebounds and getting the ball closer to the glass.
"He looks like a man with the ball," Ostanik said.
Friday night saw much of the same with Rockett earning 30 points for the 'Nooks.
But the three point credit had to go to Tyrome Flowers who dominated with five successful three pointers and earned a total of 20 points for the team.
Barry Barnes had an impressive game, with 10 points, seven rebounds, six steals and five assists.
His style screamed of street basketball with fakes, behind the back passes and simply out moving his opponents.
"That's my natural game," Barnes said.
Barnes also said that playing for a structured team like UAF needed some adjustment on his part to translate his style to the court.
Clearly the fans' favorite of the Thursday and Friday nights was Bryan Hamey, who only was in the game during the last halves of the second periods.
"Hamey is like Larry Bird" and "He doesn't make you feel like he's better than you," said sophomore psychology major Zach Olson and senior English major Charles Johnson.
Asked why fans painted signs like "Give Hamey a Chance!" and cheered for him so much, Hamey quietly and without ego replied, "I think people like the deep three and that's what I'm known for."
The Nanooks' next home game is Nov. 16 for the Top of the World Classic.
