One question, for all the horror film fans: Why?
So once again, this Halloween, another "Saw" movie will be coming to theaters. And once again, I find myself asking, why? Why do people bother with these films?
I mean, don't get me wrong, I like a good horror flick when I see one. But the last one that I saw (no pun intended) was "Seven."
"Seven" is good because it puts the audience and the characters into a puzzle. No one knows really who the killer is, but that's not the important thing for us. For viewers, the important thing is figuring out who the next victim will be based on the deadly sins being shown in the way he slowly tortured and killed his victims.
I for one at least felt a bit sorry for the mad killer because he was able to seem like a human being somehow, with all the journals he kept and the background he had.
But "Saw's" killer, the Jigsaw dude, (I know his nickname because I went to a showing of the first movie my freshman year) seems to have all the time in the world to just sadistically torture people in a medieval type way, because he has nothing better to do.
I would like to point out that, despite a really thin attempt at explaining it, I find myself constantly wondering why the heck would this guy do this stuff?
Can't he just find a better hobby, like making paper hats or dressing up cats in little tweed suits?
Not only that, but where the hell does he get the resources? Where does he get the money?
Is it so much to ask to have the director tell you if the person has a job, or a dead rich uncle? Does he get money off the people he kills, some elaborate mugging? What? Give me an answer!
And finally, and most importantly, why are they making a new movie anyway? What could people possibly see in this crap? It's endless.
No, Jigsaw Man, I don't want to play another damn game, I want the game to end! Not because I'm scared, but because people like the producers/executives who "green-lighted" this give the film industry a bad name.
You know what I want to do? I want to play a game with you, Jigsaw Man. I want to show up at your house and when you answer the door, grab your head and throw you to the ground and pounce on your face! Of course then you might add that to a fourth "Saw" movie... AHHH!
