Jan. 14 – Rifle Team bests West Virginia The UAF Rifle Team defeated the West Virginia Mountaineers 4,662-4,578, continuing a season-long undefeated streak. Freshman Matthias Dierolf led the match with a score of 594, followed by Matt Rawlings and Jamie Beyerle, with 589 apiece. Jan. 16 – Rifle Team bests Nebraska The UAF Rifle Team defeated the Nebraska Cornhuskers 4,715-4,653, for its eighth consecutive victory. Rawlings scored 594, with Beyerle, Dierolf, and Christian Lejon each scoring 591. Jan. 22 – UAF Skiing Victorious The UAF men's and women's ski teams both performed solidly at the NorAm Super Tour in Coleraine, MN. In both days of this event, Johanna Turunen, and Pavla Havlova finished first and third, respectively, in the collegiate division, and Marius Korthauer finished first both days for the men. Jan. 26 – Women's basketball defeated in Seattle The UAF women's basketball team was defeated by the Seattle Pacific Redhawks 91-48. Forward and Co-captain Karen Rabung led the ‘Nooks with 13 points and five rebounds, but the Redhawks jumped out to a 17-0 lead and never slowed down. Jan. 28 – Women's basketball defeated by Northwest Nazarene The UAF women's basketball team was defeated by the Crusaders of Northwest Nazarene 74-54. The ‘Nooks were led by Cristina Bruketta and Mia Seagraves, with nine points apiece. The loss was the sixth consecutive defeat for the Nanooks, who are now 5-12 overall, and 2-7 in GNAC Conference play. Jan. 29 – UAF skiing on top again The UAF Ski Teams again outperformed their competition in the continuation of the NorAm Super Tour in Cable, WI, with a total of 15 top ten finishers in the men's and women's races over two days. |
