Fairbanks Light Opera Theater just finished their run of "Bye Bye Birdie." The musical is about an Elvis-like figure named Conrad Birdiewho is drafted in to the army. However, before he is drafted, his manager Albert Peterson stages a stunt on the Ed Sullivan show in which Conrad Birdie is supposed to kiss a girl from Sweet Apple, Ohio. Most of the story revolves around the relationship between Albert Peterson and his secretary Rose Alvers. The production of "Bye Bye Birdie" was filled with the classic large song and dance numbers. At times it felt slow and drawn out, however the slapstick comedy helped to keep it alive. |
