S.L.U.T. suffer heavy casualties, fight on |

After the tragic falling death of Travis Mitchy this weekend, S.L.U.T.'s numbers have once again taken a beating, dropping to four. S.L.U.T., or Super Leaders for the University of Tomorrow, is an on-campus organization founded for the sole purpose of helping UAF's leaders come to grips with responsibility and team building in today's sometimes harsh, cynical environment. Patrick Frondin, the club's founder and fellow remaining member, remembers S.L.U.T.'s auspicious early days. "A lot of it, in the beginning, we were just so tired of everyone ignoring us. We were trying to be leaders, whether it be for ASUAF or Residence Life or whatever, and nobody cared," said Frondin. "We thought it was our fault. So I made S.L.U.T. I figured, if we give each other sort of super personas, people will get more confidence and take that out there and make a real difference. But I guess it got away from us." Frondin said the real problem was when the members started to believe that they actually had super powers. The fatalities began in late 2003 when Meagan Easely, otherwise known as Electro-Girl, tried fixing the power problems plaguing the Hess Recreation Center's Christmas Dance. Brittany Elliot, a friend of Easely, attended. "None of us really knew what she was trying to do. She kept yelling, 'Stand back.' And then she threw water on herself and jumped onto the animatronic Santa Residence Life had bought for the event," said Elliot. "It was terrible. The Santa was still ho-ho-hoing while on fire with this dead girl in his lap. It was all I could do not to scream." The remaining members of S.L.U.T., however, are optimistic. "Travis just needed a running start. Besides, I don't even have flying abilities, so you won't see me making that mistake," said Frondin about his recently deceased friend. "Now, if you ever got a fire out of control, I'm your man." At this point, Frondin inhaled deeply only to burst forth with an onslaught of snot, spit, and carbon dioxide in an apparent demonstration before passing out.
