IF IT BLEEDS, IT LEADS A male subject at Skarland Hall was bleeding from the head around 12:30 a.m. Dec. 8. Police made contact with the individual who was taken to the hospital. During the investigation, it was discovered that an aggravated assault with a weapon had occurred and that alcohol had been involved. Several suspects were being questioned. SKELETONS, COAT IN CLOSET An officer picked up a male subject Dec. 4 who was hitchhiking and inappropriately dressed for the cold. The subject was found to have a warrant for a failing to appear in court. Dustin E. Walters, 19, was taken to jail. SPINERGY Police received multiple reports of a red truck that struck a fire hydrant and almost hit a pedestrian while doing a brody near Signers Hall Dec. 8. The truck was located and passed on to the Alaska State Troopers and the Fairbanks Police Department. YELLING AT THE TOILET A caller requested a welfare check for an intoxicated, semiconscious male who was vomiting at Nerland Hall around 2:30 a.m. Dec. 5. The University Fire Department responded and transported the patient to the hospital. He was also charged with minor consuming. DOG CATCHER An off-campus female caller said that her two sled dog puppies had gotten loose Dec. 5, and another person witnessed a man putting the puppies in his vehicle. Police took statements. UNDERQUALIFIED After stopping a vehicle near the Agricultural Farm Dec. 6, police discovered that the driver, 49-year-old Deniecelyn Beebe-Leonard of Ester, had no license, vehicle registration, or proof of insurance. She was issued a court summons, cited, and released. "WHY DON'T WE DO IT IN THE ROAD?" A person in the middle of South Chandalar was reported to police around 11:30 a.m. Dec. 7. An officer contacted the individual and gave a warning to stay out of traffic. The individual was given a disorderly conduct warning for being a traffic hazard and trespassed from campus. DORMITORY DRUNKARDS Police received a report of intoxicated underage subjects in a dorm room at Moore Hall around 12:30 a.m. Dec. 4. Two individuals were issued court summons for minor consuming. RE: SUSPICIOUS Police were investigating a suspicious email Dec. 8 that was sent to a faculty member regarding another employee. THE SLASHER STRIKES AGAIN The tires of a vehicle in the MBS lot were slashed Dec. 6 and reported around 11 p.m. An officer responded to take a report and investigate. THE TOWING GAME A vehicle parked in a turn lane on Tanana Loop around 4 a.m. Dec. 9 was said to have been causing a traffic hazard. After an unsuccessful attempt to contact the owner, the vehicle was impounded. Police impounded a vehicle parked in the roadway near the Student Apartment Complex just before midnight Dec. 3. A vehicle that was found parked in a fire lane at Signers Hall was impounded Dec. 8. STOLEN Cross-country skis were reported stolen from the Student Recreation Center Dec. 8. A wallet was reported stolen from the Student Recreations Complex Dec. 5. |
