Beyerle honored by USA Shooting

USA Shooting has named UAF's own Jamie Beyerle 2004 Female Rifle Athlete of the Year.

The award recognizes Beyerle's outstanding performance in major international competition in 2004.

Beyerle, a junior, performed well at the USA Championships, winning six medals. She also earned the bronze medal in the women's three-position competition at the Bangkok World Cup in February.

"We're pleased to see Jamie honored," UAF Head Coach Glenn Dubis said. "She has represented the United States well in World Cup competition, and she is clearly the dominant female rifle shooter in the U.S."

Beyerle is a Business Administration major.  She came to UAF as the top recruit in the nation.  Since joining the team she has claimed the title of USA 2002 Nation Champion, 2003 NCAA Individual Air Rifle Champion, and received the gold medal at the 2003 Zagreb World Cup in Zagreb, Croatia.

"She is solid in each discipline and can only get better with time," said Dubis.  "Everything about Jamie screams champion."
