Police Blotter

GIVENS TAKEN

Two intoxicated individuals were causing a disturbance in the MBS lobby just after midnight Oct. 22. One had been drinking underage and was issued a citation. Both were warned about their conduct and released. Another individual, 18-year-old William A. Givens III, had been aggressive and rude to Residence Life personnel. He had also been given a minor consuming citation and was warned for his behavior. Givens was eventually arrested for disorderly conduct.

 

NEVER CROSS A CABBY

A cab driver reported just before midnight Oct. 26 that someone had skipped their fare and was running away. At Hess Village, officers arrested 30-year-old Ruth Makpii Qiruk Long for theft of services, disorderly conduct, and resisting arrest. She was taken to jail and trespassed from UAF property for five years.

 

LIQUOR AT THE LAKE

An officer checked on a suspicious vehicle parked at Ballaine Lake around 3 a.m. Oct. 23. The driver, 18-year-old Dalton A. Wells, was issued a summons for furnishing alcohol to a minor. The passenger was issued a citation for minor consuming and given to her mother.

 

ALL TOO TRUANT

An officer contacted a juvenile for shoplifting at the UAF Bookstore around 11 a.m. Oct. 28. The juvenile was taken back to his high school.

 

BREAKING IN

The back window of a vehicle at the Nenana parking lot was broken out according to a report made around 9 a.m. Oct. 26. The owner of the vehicle was contacted. He had broken the window after locking his keys inside.

 

GET ME OUTTA HERE!

A possible domestic violence incident was reported from Hess Village Oct. 28. An officer contacted two subjects.  One decided to go into protective custody and was taken to the hospital.

 

SLIDING SEASON

A vehicle stuck in the ditch on North Tanana Drive was causing a traffic hazard Oct. 26. An officer was unable to locate the owner, and the vehicle was towed.

 

A motor vehicle accident involving a UAF vehicle occurred at the Wood Center loading dock Oct. 20.

 

A minor motor vehicle was reported at Forrest Road Oct. 19.

 

UPD assisted the Alaska State Troopers with a jackknifed tractor-trailer on the Parks Highway at Sheep Creek Road Oct. 21.

 

A motor vehicle accident involving a university vehicle was reported at the Fire Department parking lot Oct. 23.

 

ODDS AND ENDS

The driver's side rear window of a vehicle parked near the Upper Dorms parking lot was reported broken out Oct. 20.

 

Damage to a vehicle was reported at the Upper Dorms parking lot Oct. 28.

 

Harassing emails at UAF were reported Oct. 26. The situation was resolved.

 

A lost ring was found at the MACS bus stop Oct. 20.

 

An RA at Skarland Hall requested a welfare check on a resident Oct. 24. Everything turned out to be OK.

 

A report of drugs in a dorm room was received Oct. 27. An investigation is ongoing.
