KSUA puts DJ back on air |

Scott
Hornyak, AKA Spider Bui, is back. After a
series of conferences between the DJ's lawyer and UAF officials, KSUA will allow
Hornyak back on the air, as well as rescind his termination as KSUA business
manager. Hornyak
was fired from his position as Business Manager after broadcasting a
comedic-themed "celebration of Reagan's death" in which he allegedly
advocated urinating on Reagan's grave among other inflammatory comments.
KSUA
General Manager H.B. Telling previously commented that Hornyak's inflammatory
remarks were "an unfortunate coincidence," and had no bearing on his
termination. After Hornyak's reinstatement, Telling refused to comment on the
situation. "I really don't have anything to say about that," he said. "KSUA's
better off without [Hornyak]," said Program Director Chip Brookes. Brookes
said that KSUA officials had been told not to discuss the matter. "It was a
decision by the University, and they have their reasons even if I don't agree
with them." "UAF
did a good job. They saw there was a problem, and they corrected it,"
Hornyak said. Hornyak,
who was represented by a member of the Alaska Civil Liberties Union, said he was
"happy with the decision", and was "glad everything worked
out." Hornyak's AkCLU lawyer Jason Brandeis could not be reached for
comment. |
