Letter to the Editor

Dear Editor,

UAF has decided to reinstate my job and my show.

I was fired because I stated a controversial opinion.  It is my opinion that Ronald Reagan was a menace to the planet.  Whether you agree with me or not is irrelevant.  The right for someone to speak their mind is an essential freedom.  This is especially true in a time of war, in an election year, on a college campus.  It is not only a freedom, but a responsibility.

I was disappointed that members of the media board chose to lie about why I was fired.  Luckily those lies were exposed.  It was actually an honor to be fired for what I was fired for, and my pleasure to fight against censorship and lies.

The University did a very good job investigating and correcting these mistakes. The ACLU performed with excellence in this manner.  My attorney Jason Brandies was superb.  That organization is a really positive resource to this country.

I was proud to be a part of this whole experience.  Getting involved in an issue that is bigger than myself was very rewarding.  I am also very glad it is over.  I am very much looking forward to getting back to my job as business manager and continuing to create what I consider the most interesting and relevant art in Fairbanks.
