Police Blotter

THE JIMMY LEGS

During a stop for making an illegal turn, Sean A. Silverton, 32, was found to be driving with a revoked license. Furthermore, while en route to jail a pipe containing a controlled substance was dropped to the floorboards. Silverton kicked an officer who stepped out to investigate the noise. He would later be charged with possession of a controlled substance and assaulting a police officer.

 MINORING IN TROUBLE

Police received a report of a possible drunk driver just after midnight Sep. 8, and due to several equipment violations, were able to pull the car over. The driver and passenger were both juvenile females and the driver was not legally intoxicated. She was detained for driving without a license and released to a parent. The passenger was cited with minor consuming and booked at Fairbanks Youth Facility.

 Police stopped a car for speeding on Yukon Drive Sep. 12 and the driver, 20-year-old Jason E. Turnquist, was found to have consumed alcohol. Turnquist was cited and released.

 ROADS DANGEROUS, DITCHES WORSE

A vehicle crashed into the brush on Kuskokwim Drive the night of Sep. 10 and was then pulled out by another vehicle. Witnesses reported that the driver may have been drunk, but police were unable to locate the vehicle.

 YEA,  "BORROWED"

A vehicle that had been reported stolen from the Cutler parking lot was later returned because a relative had only borrowed it.

 CALL FOR BACK UP!

A UAF officer assisted a school district employee in making contact with two suspicious juveniles at Old University Park Sep. 3. One was found to have a marijuana pipe and he was turned over to an adult relative.

 DELIVERANCE

A juvenile male departed a cab on Alumni Drive Sep. 4 without paying. The person was contacted and opted to pay the fare lest the cabbie press charges. However, the underage male did have alcohol on his breath and was cited for minor consuming.

 "I'M WITH STUPID"

An officer assisted the Alaska State Troopers at Yak Estates Sep. 4. A woman had apparently burnt her own shirt on purpose. She was located by a UAF officer and taken into custody.

 BIKE HELD FOR QUESTIONING

An officer investigating a suspicious individual who reported on College Road Sep. 4 did not find the person, but did find a bike that was kept for safekeeping.

 OLD RIVALS MEET AGAIN

University police logged a report Sep. 5 of, "A motor vehicle accident between a vehicle and a light pole," at MBS.

 IN THE YEAR 2000

A broken down vehicle near the Agricultural Farm was impounded for having registration from the year 2000.

 ODDS AND ENDS

A driver on the university perimeter was cited for driving with a suspended license and released Sep. 5 around 1 a.m.

 A trailer hitch cargo rack was stolen off the back of a vehicle Sep. 9 in the Natural Sciences parking lot.

 An unauthorized person who had entered a UAF building Sep. 9 was trespassed from the area.

 Several skateboarders were reported near the Wood Center Sep. 10. An officer contacted them and trespassed one individual. 

A small amount of money was stolen from a desk drawer in the Irving Building Sep. 12.
