Ex-UAF professor looses his plane over drug charges |

Former
university professor Bob Logan gave up his airplane Tuesday as part of a plea
agreement for drug charges stemming from his arrest last year. Logan,
46, plead no contest in Superior Court to a consolidated drug charge in a
Fairbanks case and a consolidated bootlegging charge in a Barrow case. In
addition to his Super Cub, Logan will also transfer his logbooks and skis. Fairbanks
police arrested Logan, who was an economics professor at UAF at the time, on
Sept. 15 following a months-long investigation by state and federal authorities.
Police charged him with five counts of fourth degree misconduct involving a
controlled substance. Barrow
authorities charged him in January with 10 counts, including four counts of
misconduct involving a controlled substance, one count of importation of
alcohol, four counts of selling alcohol without a license and one count of
selling alcohol in Barrow, where it's prohibited. The prosecution had accused
Logan of using his plane to import the alcohol. The
state later dropped the marijuana charges and consolidated the alcohol charges
into a single sale of alcohol charge. The
court capped Logan's time to serve in the Barrow case to nine months. Logan's
sentencing is scheduled for Dec. 14 and 16. |
