Letter to the Editor

To the Editor of the Sun Star:

I would like publicly to commend Brandon Maitlen on operating such an ethical campaign while running for the ASUAF presidency this past couple of months. Not once, even to his strongest supporters, did he proffer negative opinions of the incumbent or authorize his supports to do so—as may have been the logical thing to do when the bulk of Mr. Maitlen's campaign signs disappeared from campus only a few days after being hung. An example of his tight ethical self-control can be seen in the following: he had offered to buy the incumbent a cup of coffee, when all was said and done, regardless of who won the election. The incumbent responded that he did not that that was a good idea; he was most upset that one of his signs had been torn down in the stairwell on the third floor Gruening. Later that morning, Mr. Maitlen went himself and duct taped the incumbent's election sign back in place.

Mr. Maitlen not only had good ideas for where he wanted the ASUAF to go, but he had plans that would get us there! It is my fervent wish that Mr. Maitlen will run again next year.

Brandon Maitlen won by 43 votes, yet there sits President Walker, at the decision of the election board. Be thankful for that board, Mr. President, and I hope that you will take  your responsibility to the students, and not your own political aspirations, far more seriously than you have done this past year. I imagine you are not above impeachment.

Sincerely,

Annie Krause
