Letter to the editor |

Dear Editor, I watch the news on television and read the papers. Gay marriage is an ever increasing debate in this country. Honestly, I don't have a problem if people of the same gender wish to marry each other. On the other hand, I do understand that many of you feel that homosexuality is wrong. To those of you who feel this way, I have just one thing to say to you: Don't invoke the name of God when condemning homosexuals. I was watching TV one day and I saw someone holding a sign that says "God hates fags." Those who say this cannot have any concept of God if they believe this. God created us, and God loves each and everyone one of us for who we are. God understands that we are not perfect but loves us anyway. While He does want us to do the right thing, he won't hate us when we don't. We will all come to Him in our own time and He understands this. Finally, allow me to throw out a couple of biblical clichés that seem appropriate here: "Judge not lest ye be judged," and "People who live in glass houses should not throw stones." (I don't actually know if the last if really from the bible, but you get the point). Sincerely, Harlan Thomas |
